Job Description

Assistant Product Developer / £22k- £26k / South East

This is an excellent opportunity a junior or intermediate person within the lighting or electrical industry to work for one of the UK's largest distributors in the market!

This is a varied role which will involve working very closely with both internal departments within the company, and suppliers in Asia and China in ensuring that the business has a strong portfolio of products and is operating most effectively.

You will be involved in overseeing the technical communications around the products, from information packs and documents, to marketing materials. In terms of products, you will be working will a range of industrial and commercial luminaires (downlights, high bays, bulkheads, spotlights, etc) and also wiring accessories (sockets, switches, etc), and you will grow to be an expert in the products that you manage, advising other teams such as marketing, and quality assurance.

You will be reporting into the Product Manager, and together you will be looking at what product needs there are within the industry, specifying those technical needs to suppliers, and making sure that all of the testing and technical documents are fully up to standard. You will be looking at processes both internally within the business, and making sure that your Chinese partners are following those so that you can both work most effectively together.

Applying candidates will ideally have a background within the Lighting and Electrical industry, with some experience managing a variety of different projects at once. Product knowledge is not essential, as long as a candidate has a strong interest in technical knowledge, and is able to learn quickly.

Having an eye for detail is key in this role, as small mistakes and miscommunication can cause major issues for the suppliers, the business, and customers. Along with this written and verbal communication skills in order to work effectively with both your team and suppliers abroad is crucial.

If you're a technical person looking for an exciting career in a company where you can establish yourself within the industry long term and grow, then this is the role for you!
