Technical Manager (Lighting)
This is an exciting role looking for either an experienced Technical Manager, or an ambitious Quality/Technical Engineer with a background and knowledge of Lighting, to join a hugely successful Lighting Manufacturer in the North West. The company has been going from strength to strength growing year on year, and is one of the market leaders within the industry. As a forward thinking business, they are continually looking to grow and challenge themselves, and have even bigger plans for the future.
The position has arisen through internal promotion of the current Technical Manager, as there is plenty of opportunity for progression within the company. There will be support within your role over the transition period from both the previous Technical Manger, and the current Operations Director in order to support you fully.
The key focus of your job will be in ensuring all Lighting products produced by the company adhere to compliance regulations, and are fully certified for their testing and safety. You should already have at least a basic level of understanding of these regulations and processes from your experience within lighting. You will be responsible for the testing of these Lighting products, and resolving any issues or complications that may arise.
You role will involve overseeing a team of 4 technical quality assurance engineers. As someone with experience managing a team in some capacity, whether as a direct manager, team leader, or another capacity you will be looking to get the best out of the people you work with. This will involve ensuring that their work is of high quality meeting industry standards and regulations, as well as enforcing clear deadlines and making sure your team can work effectively to meet them.
With your technical knowledge and understanding of Lighting products and regulations, you will be a hub for people both internally within the business and externally with contractors, installers and customers, sharing your knowledge to help resolve issues and queries. While the role is largely office based, you will also be involved in occasional site visits where you will be meeting with customers and clients face to face in order to assist them.
Key requirements for this role:
Background and knowledge within the Lighting Industry, specifically focusing on Quality Management Systems (ISO9001-2000) and Safety and Certification regulations (BS EN 60598). You can either be highly experienced with these processes, or have a more basic understanding with the ambition to progress.
Experience managing a team of any size, being able to work effectively with your colleagues both motivating them, and holding them to deadlines when necessary.
Great interpersonal skills, communicating well between your team, the Operations Director whom you report into, and other employees of all levels Senior and Junior within the company, as well as customers and clients. This involves communication in face, in writing, and over the phone.
